Experience the grounds at your own pace with nearly 22 miles of hiking trails. Enjoy a walk along the French Broad River, through lush green forests, or in the open meadows of the estate. Stop by the Bike Barn or Outdoor Adventure Center for a detailed trail map and orientation.

Two-hour experiences cover the basics of expedition-style driving while allowing additional time for you to increase your knowledge and ability to create a more memorable off-road adventure.

Relax on a 60-minute ride aboard a classic 6-passenger carriage. Enjoy Biltmore’s beautiful scenery just as Vanderbilt guests did over a century ago.

Biking

Explore the estate from a different perspective on our many miles of biking trails. Choose from our well-marked woodland trails for a more challenging ride, or take a leisurely ride on our paved trail along the French Broad River. Bring your own bike or rent one from us at the Bike Barn.

This guided ride on the more technical Deerpark Trail takes you on both paved and off-road surfaces all the way to the South Terrace of Biltmore House.

Descend the back stairs to explore servant life at Biltmore. Visit the domains of the butler, head housekeeper, and lady’s maid, then continue on to a suite of guest rooms to learn about grand house parties hosted by the Vanderbilts.

Fly-fish in a drift boat, oared by one of our expert instructors, on one of Biltmore’s picturesque lakes. Trip lasts 4 hours.

Treat yourself to a relaxing journey and breathtaking views of Biltmore’s scenery on an 8-passenger wagonette drawn by Belgian draft horses. One child 5 years and younger free per paying adult.

Learn the basics of fly-fishing and casting, including equipment, fly presentation, landing the fish, fly selection, and knots from our expert guides, and then practice your new skills from a drift boat in the Lagoon.

Kids can enjoy a two-hour spin fishing lesson in the Lagoon or Long Valley Lake with a fishing instructor.

Farmyard Visits

Visit Antler Hill Farm for a complimentary introduction to farm life and farm animals that were an integral part of life on the estate. Animals residing at the Farmyard may include laying hens, lambs, calves, goats, and draft horses. Antler Hill Farm staff are on hand to explain the role animals play on the estate and engage in hands-on activities based on seasonal availability.

Stroll through America’s largest home on a marked route, assisted by knowledgeable guides along the way. See displays of art, furniture, and more that illustrate the lives of the Vanderbilt family, their guests, and employees during the Gilded Age. 

This guided tour begins with training conducted by an expert guide who will teach your group how to travel by Segway. Once all are comfortable aboard their two-wheeled, self-balancing personal vehicles, the tour will begin down the paved Lagoon Trail.

Take your skills to the next level as you learn techniques that will increase your scores and consistency.

Enjoy complimentary tastings of more than 20 of our celebrated wines as our wine hosts take you on a journey through reds, whites, and rosés.

After instruction and off-road training exercises, your expert guide will lead the way down the paved Lagoon Trail, followed by hard-packed dirt and gravel surfaces.

Test your skills as clay targets are thrown from strategically placed traps in various combinations on our 5-Stand or Sporting Clays course. Lasts 60–90 minutes.

Come to Village Social at Village Hotel for live music Friday and Saturday evenings. Kevin Scanlon blends diverse musical styles to create his own sound that features guitar, banjo, harmonica, and vocals.

On this guided tour, get a closer look at the design and construction of Biltmore House in areas not on the regular house visit—including stunning views and photo ops from the rooftop and balconies.

Discover Biltmore stories combined with convenient estate transportation in our newest guided tour. Hop on our trolley and learn about the history of Biltmore House & Gardens as well as Antler Hill Village & Winery as you travel on a 60-minute loop of the estate—or hop off at any stop to explore, shop, and dine at your leisure. When you are ready to move on, simply catch the next trolley. The tour runs continuously from 9 a.m.–7 p.m., stopping at each designated location every 30 minutes.

Biltmore’s exciting new exhibition showcases breathtaking large-scale glass sculptures in an equally breathtaking setting: the historic gardens of America’s Largest Home®.
