A stunning tribute to George Vanderbilt’s love of literature, this new exhibition showcases more than 40 award-winning movie costumes from films based on some of his favorite literary works.

Our handicrafts sessions provide children ages 4 to 12 a chance to learn traditional Appalachian crafts while making a special toy or souvenir to take home! Popular during the Vanderbilts’ time, such crafts as off-loom weaving, quilt design, and creating corn shuck dolls and limberjacks (a folk instrument) are kept alive by our instructors’ enthusiasm and expertise.

Welcome spring at its colorful finest! Acres of ever-changing blossoms weave a tapestry of colors across historic gardens designed by renowned landscape architect Frederick Law Olmstead.

Live Classical Music at The Conservatory

Included in admission

Soloists including harpists, violinists, cellists, and guitarists perform instrumental sets. Depending on the weather, you may find our musicians in our grand glass conservatory, or outside amid the beauty of our spectacular gardens.

Explore the estate’s East Side with an insider’s perspective on this moderate- to fast-paced guided hike through wooded areas on dirt-packed trails. Meet your Trail Blazers hike leader atthe Outdoor Adventure Center. Wear comfortable clothing and closed toe shoes; active wear isavailable at The Marble Lion retail shop within The Inn and at Antler Hill Outfitters in Antler Hill Village.
