Elizabethan Bedding Collection
Bring spring and summer warmth and beauty into your home with this meandering vine of colorful flowers. This lovely floral bedding ensemble was inspired by the Walled Garden at Biltmore. Walled Gardens were typically used to produce fruit and vegetables, but Mr. Vanderbilt insisted that his Walled Garden be a garden of ornamentation rather than utility, reasoning that the estate farm would supply produce instead. The flower beds in the Walled Garden are arranged in patterns similar to that of an Elizabethan knot garden. The garden blooms with a progression of color starting in the spring with daffodils, hyacinths, and tulips, followed in summer with some 40 varieties of annuals, while fall brings a multihued display of chrysanthemums.
