Educational Biltmore House Tours

Learn more about the Vanderbilts, the history of Biltmore House and its treasures with an escorted visit in the house. Groups of 20 or more may purchase reduced-price tickets.

  • Hosts greet groups in front of Biltmore House to offer a brief introduction that includes the estate's Code of Behavior.
  • This tour includes the public rooms of Biltmore House. Hosts highlight collections and bring the Vanderbilts, their guests, and domestic staff to life.
  • Groups are divided into sub-groups of 20–22 for the Biltmore House tour.
  • Escorted visits of Biltmore House are available Monday through Friday.
  • Hosts are scheduled according to your reservation time; we ask that you be prompt.
  • Reservations are limited during peak seasons. Please make arrangements as early as possible.

An Introduction to Biltmore House

This guided tour is perfect for students of all ages. Your visit to America's largest home includes the main rooms of the house, family and guest bedrooms, kitchen, laundry areas, indoor pool, bowling alley, and servants' quarters. We'll also delve into the state-of-the-art technologies that kept George Vanderbilt's home running.

A Big Estate for Little Learners
Designed for K–3 Classes

This combination tour includes highlights from An Introduction to Biltmore House and Animal Crackers at River Bend Farm. Design to accommodate little legs, this option introduces young learners to art, history, farming, gardening, and livestock. Activities at the farm vary depending on time of year, work schedules, and weather, and may include a tractor-pulled wagon ride, horse grooming, bottle-feeding young animals, gathering and washing eggs, and tending a garden. This tour is also a great teaching tool for fieldtrip etiquette and manners.

Discover why Biltmore House is one of North Carolina's greatest treasures. During your visit, we'll discuss why George Vanderbilt chose to make Western North Carolina his home, how Biltmore House's construction impacted the community, and the Vanderbilts' contributions to the state.

Biltmore and Beyond
Designed for Middle and High School Students

An historical look into the private life of George Vanderbilt and his home as it relates to your choice of listed subjects. We have enhanced our house tour to emphasize the most-requested areas of interest. You can choose your tour to focus on Art, the French Influence, Interior Design &Restoration, or Architecture. We will try to accommodate special request topics other than those listed but may require advance notice.
