Corporate Overview

BIltmore House from Diana

Biltmore’s story begins in the late 1880s when George Washington Vanderbilt discovered the mountainous allure of western North Carolina when traveling with his mother. Recognizing a jewel in the overtimbered countryside, he amassed thousands of acres and set about building a 250-room home and farm operation designed to be self-sustaining for his family and friends. The combination of strong family bonds and a visionary mission to preserve the estate has created one of the country’s most visited and beloved attractions.
