Make Biltmore's Backyard Yours This Summer

As the weather warms, people are searching for a unique venue to bask in the great outdoors. One where they can bring their families, have a place to park the car and enjoy many activities in one location. That exceptional place is Biltmore, an 8,000-acre playground that isn't a long car ride away. It's right here in Asheville. There's much more to this historic property than America's largest home. The estate's Outdoor Center has an adventure perfect for everyone, from a gentle float trip down the French Broad River to an off-road session with the Land Rover Experience Driving School.

Biltmore's Outdoor Center has recently expanded its offerings with the launch of Segway tours and a sporting clays range. Discover the property's beautiful trails on an all-terrain Segway personal transporter. A two-hour guided tour begins with a training session. Then, glide past the lagoon, along the French Broad River and up to Biltmore House for an ideal photo opportunity with the 250-room chateau as a backdrop. Experience the excitement of sporting clays with a two-hour lesson. An expert instructor guides guests through the techniques of shooting clay targets on the property's west side near the estat's 94-acre vineyard.

With so many outdoor activities available at Biltmore, guests may want to spend more than one day on the estate and can do so with the Explore Biltmore Pass, which provides access for an entire year. The pass allows unlimited access to all of the estate's hiking and biking trails, as well as extra discounts on estate dining, shopping, Inn stays and the popular Summer Evening Concert Series. At a discounted rate, pass holders can also experience kayaking, float trips, fly fishing, horseback riding, carriage rides, Segway tours, sporting clays and the Land Rover Experience Driving School.

Adjacent to the Outdoor Center is River Bend Farm, where on weekends kids of all ages can enjoy activities such as music, clogging, and visits with farmyard animals. From Memorial Day through Labor Day, kids 16 and under are admitted free with a paying adult.
