Saturday, August 1: The Oak Ridge Boys and Doc Watson & David Holt

Theirs is one of the most distinctive and recognizable sounds in the music industry.The four-part harmonies and upbeat songs of the Oak Ridge Boys have spawned dozens of Country hits and a Number One Pop smash, earned them Grammy, Dove, CMA, and ACM awards and garnered a host of other industry and fan accolades. Their string of hits includes the pop chart-topper Elvira, as well as Bobbie Sue, Dream On, Thank God For Kids, American Made, I Guess It Never Hurts To Hurt Sometimes, Fancy Free, Gonna Take A Lot Of River, and many others.

The recipient of a lifetime achievement award and six Grammys, Doc Watson is a powerful singer and tremendously influential picker who virtually invented the art of playing mountain fiddle tunes on the flattop guitar.

David Holt has been collecting and performing songs and stories of the old-time mountaineers in the Blue Ridge Mountains for over 30 years. Doc Watson and David Holt have known each other since 1971 and have made several CD's together including the three-volume Legacy.
