See the Detective Work Behind Current Renovations

Get a behind-the-scenes peak at our newest restoration project: the Damask Room, the Claude Room, the Tyrolean Chimney Room, and the Louis XV Room. Photos and videos showcase our conservators at work and reveal the care that goes into preserving America's largest home.

Touch History

Imagine having luxurious cut velvet fabric handmade in France for your guest bedroom walls. Conservators found remnants of that very thing in the elegant Louis XV room, currently undergoing renovation. You can touch the exquisite swatches of luxurious cut velvet specially reproduced for the Louis XV room. Woven inch-by-inch by skilled artisans in France, this fabric is a masterpiece in itself. Samples of handcrafted French wallpaper for the Tyrolean Chimney Room will also be displayed. The collection of swatches, photos, and video combine to provide an exclusive sneak peek on what Biltmore's newly restored rooms will look like when they open to the public in 2009.
