Intro to Nature Journaling

Join generations of everyday travelers (and literary giants!) who have described the resplendent natural beauty of George Vanderbilt’s magnificent estate for more than a century. Taking place at one of Biltmore’s many scenic locations, this class explores the process and power of creative self-expression.

Nature journal included.

Must be 12 years of age or older to participate. Participants are encouraged to bring water, dress for the weather, and wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes.

Guided Bike Ride

This relaxing, easy-paced adventure takes you along the French Broad River and the estate’s lush agricultural fields. Your three-to five-mile spin over a combination of flat paved trails, gravel-packed roads, and dirt trails includes occasional stops where your guide will share intriguing tidbits about the Vanderbilts, their guests, and the estate’s natural history.

Advance reservations are required. To make reservations for this activity, guest must have a daytime ticket, a Biltmore Annual Pass, or an overnight stay booked at Village Hotel, The Inn, or Cottages on Biltmore Estate.

Mountain & Comfort Bikes are available. A limited number of trailers and tag-alongs are available for younger children.

Archery

Step back in time to discover the artistic sport of target archery amid 8,000 acres of natural beauty! After a brief introduction to the history of archery—both general and specific to Biltmore—participants receive coaching for stance and technique by our trained guide. Then, it’s “archers to the line” for the opportunity to demonstrate their newfound skills.

Flower Petal Art

Experience the beauty of flowers and the power of creative expression with this engaging activity that invites you to enjoy nature’s colorful blooms in any season! Participants will craft their very own framed take-home floral masterpieces as they learn about flowers and leaves from one of our knowledgeable Outdoor Adventure Center guides.

Morning Yoga

Complimentary for all overnight guests of the estate, this unique yoga experience focuses on wellness, balance, and rejuvenation in a quiet setting at Biltmore’s four-star Inn.

This activity takes place in a spacious banquet area at The Inn; weather permitting, activity takes place outdoors. Location is subject to change. No mat required; towels and sanitized yoga mats provided. Wear comfortable clothing. Activewear available at The Marble Lion retail shop at The Inn.

Chocolate Meditation

Indulge your senses with a truly unique guided meditation experience featuring delicious chocolate selections such as peppermint honey, lavender citrus, and vanilla orchid. This activity is great for chocolate lovers who are also interested in the benefits that meditation and focus can bring to their overall well-being. It is also the perfect introduction to sensory meditation experiences for those new to mindfulness practices.

Guests will enjoy a beautiful outdoor setting on the estate, with an optional indoor space in case of inclement weather. Participants are encouraged to wear comfortable clothing (layers suggested for temperature fluctuations) and to bring water or other beverages. Chocolate and meditation cushions will be provided, but guests are welcome to bring their own towels and mats.

Hiking

Experience the grounds at your own pace with nearly 22 miles of hiking trails. Enjoy a walk along the French Broad River, through lush green forests, or in the open meadows of the estate. Prior to your hike, please download and review our Trail Map, or stop by the Bike Barn or Outdoor Adventure Center for a detailed orientation and trail map.

Half-Day Rental Tandem Bike (Up to 4 Hours)

Bike Rentals availability is weather-dependent and are sold through the Bike Barn and Outdoor Adventure Center. Advance reservations are NOT required.

Guided Bird Walks

Explore the fields, open woodlands, and Farmyard area below Antler Hill Village on an engaging, educational adventure led by a professional Ventures Birding tour guide.

Once fitted with your choice of binoculars, you’ll embark upon a relaxing stroll along dirt roads and paths while watching for the different bird species and other wildlife that frequent this “open country.” Learn about these fascinating creatures, as well as the importance of the estate’s grounds as a habitat for migratory birds and other wildlife during a truly delightful experience.

Morning Meditation

Calm your mind and focus your thoughts and energy with this gentle, guided experience designed to support optimal well-being, and empower you to greet the day relaxed and refreshed. Appropriate for all experience levels, from first-timers to experienced practitioners, this meditation takes place on the beautifully manicured lawns* adjacent to our historic Horse Barn. Cushions available. Guests welcome to bring their own towels or mats.

*In the case of chilly or inclement weather, meditation will take place in an indoor location.
