Farmyard Visits

Visit Antler Hill Farm for a complimentary introduction to farm life and farm animals that were an integral part of life on the estate. Animals residing at the Farmyard may include laying hens, lambs, calves, goats, and draft horses.

Advanced Sporting Clays Lesson

Clay Shooting (Trapper Program)

Test your shotgun skills on our 5-Stand or Sporting Clays course for experienced clay shooters. Clay targets are thrown from strategically placed traps in various combinations while you shoot from our 5-Stand range or our Sporting Clays course. Includes 50 shells, a high-quality Orvis shotgun, and other equipment. For experienced clay shooters only. Instruction is not included.

Private Full-Day Shotgun Sports Clinic

Spend the day with our expert instructors honing and perfecting your skills on our 5-Stand and Sporting Clays courses. Lunch is included. This clinic is most suitable for intermediate to advanced shotgunners.

Half-Day Fly-Fishing Lesson

Learn the basics of fly-fishing and casting, including equipment, fly presentation, landing the fish, fly selection, and knots from our expert guides, and then practice your new skills from a drift boat in the Lagoon or an estate lake.

To participate in this activity, guest must have a daytime ticket, a Biltmore Annual Pass, or a stay at one of the estate’s splendid overnight properties. Ages 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult. This activity is unavailable during winter.

Fly-Fishing Wade Trip

Experience an exciting guided full-day wade trip fishing for wild or stocked trout in one of our local streams or rivers. Lunch from an estate restaurant is included. Fly-fishing experience is required for this adventure. All equipment (and lunch) provided.

Experienced fly-fishing anglers only. NC fishing license required. Ages 12-17 must be accompanied by an adult. Private Horseback Trail Ride

Relax with a private, two-hour horseback ride as your expert guide leads up to 4 guests through the estate’s extensive network of outstanding trails.

Two-day advance reservations are required. To participate in this activity, guest must have a daytime ticket, a Biltmore Annual Pass, or a stay at one of the estate’s splendid overnight properties.

For horse and rider safety:

  • All guests are required to weigh in upon arrival; weight limit is 250 lbs.
  • Long pants recommended; skirts and dresses not permitted.
  • Shoes with closed toe and heel (tennis shoes or boots) are required.
  • Minimum age is 8 years (must be 8 years old on day of ride).
  • Guest 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult.
  • Helmets are required and will be provided.

One-Hour Land Rover Experience

Customized to fit your skill and comfort levels, one-hour experiences cover the basics of expedition-style driving. Off-road obstacles such as steep ascents, descents, side tilts, log crossings, and rock crawls offer an exciting adventure.

Please note: No car seats, no passengers under 8 years old, no use of the third rows of seats. In order to drive, you must have a valid driver’s license and be 21 years of age or older. Full-Day Land Rover Experience

Whether it’s your first time out or you’re looking to hone your off-road skills, the Full-Day Experience provides the most flexible and individualized adventure. Begin on set terrain that covers ditch crossings, log crossings, side tilts, and vehicle controls while gradually moving into more advanced trails featuring steep hill climbs, rocky descents, and rugged traverses. Each Full-Day Experience includes a picnic lunch and two Land Rover Experience gifts.
