Enjoy an intimate look at the family that created Biltmore with our exhibition, The Vanderbilts at Home and Abroad. This exhibition sheds light on the time the Vanderbilts spent as a family at Biltmore and beyond. Located in Antler Hill Village.

After instruction and off-road training exercises, your expert guide will lead the way down the paved Lagoon Trail, followed by hard-packed dirt and gravel surfaces.

Test your skills as clay targets are thrown from strategically placed traps in various combinations on our 5-Stand or Sporting Clays course. Lasts 60–90 minutes.

During this 90-minute experience, capture the feeling of being guided through Biltmore’s grand rooms by our curators and hosts. You’ll learn about learn about the Vanderbilts, their guests, and their servants, in addition to the surrounding architecture, design, and artwork.

After training, this tour follows gravel and dirt roads to the estate’s west side where you will enjoy beautiful views of pastures and vineyards while learning about Biltmore’s agricultural facilities.

Stroll acres of formal and informal gardens designed by America’s foremost landscape architect, Frederick Law Olmsted. Experience the grounds at your own pace with nearly 22 miles of hiking trails. Enjoy a walk along the French Broad River, through lush green forests, or in the open meadows of the estate. Stop by the Bike Barn or Outdoor Adventure Center for a detailed trail map and orientation.

Two-hour experiences cover the basics of expedition-style driving while allowing additional time for you to increase your knowledge and ability to create a more memorable off-road adventure.

Explore the estate’s off-road trails and scenic West Side roads aboard a new Outrider USA electric trike! Able to reach 20 mph on a variety of terrain, these three-wheeled electric recumbent tricycles offer a fun new way to experience Biltmore’s 8,000-acre backyard.

Biking

Explore the estate from a different perspective on our many miles of biking trails. Choose from our well-marked woodland trails for a more challenging ride, or take a leisurely ride on our paved trail along the French Broad River. Bring your own bike or rent one from us at the Bike Barn.

This guided ride on the more technical Deerpark Trail takes you on both paved and off-road surfaces all the way to the South Terrace of Biltmore House.

Farmyard Visits

Visit Antler Hill Farm for a complimentary introduction to farm life and farm animals that were an integral part of life on the estate. Animals residing at the Farmyard may include laying hens, lambs, calves, goats, and draft horses. Antler Hill Farm staff are on hand to explain the role animals play on the estate and engage in hands-on activities based on seasonal availability.

Biltmore’s exciting new exhibition showcases breathtaking large-scale glass sculptures in an equally breathtaking setting: the historic gardens of America’s Largest Home®. The vibrant colors and organic shapes that distinguish Chihuly’s dramatic creations are captivating presented within Biltmore’s artfully designed landscapes. The sculptures' placement in the gardens offers an intriguing juxtaposition of the master works of two consummate artists—premier American artist Dale Chihuly and revered Biltmore landscape designer Frederick Law Olmsted.

Biltmore House & Gardens will open to the public for special viewings of Chihuly’s stunning large-scale glass sculptures after dark. Chihuly Nights at Biltmore—by reservation only—is an enchanting opportunity to witness the effects of dramatic nighttime lighting upon the luminous colors and graceful forms of these spectacular installations. Sunset over the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains, live music in the gardens, and a wine bar make the evening experience all the more enticing. Featuring architectural elements handcrafted from such all-natural materials as leaves, bark, and twigs, the display highlights landmarks visited by Vanderbilt, who, during his lifetime, crossed the Atlantic 60 times.

Join us for the time-honored tradition of creating a gingerbread house! The Inn's pastry chef will be on hand to assist you as you decorate your house with a selection of colorful candies. Cookie Decorating at Village Hotel

Village Hotel guests only

Capture the whimsy of holiday decorating at Village Hotel during this family-friendly event! Your own personal chef hat and apron add to the excitement of decorating assorted sugar cookies with icing and edible decorations. The hotel’s pastry team joins you to offer expert tips and take-home techniques, guaranteeing your creations will be a hit at your next work, neighborhood, or holiday cookie exchange. No reservations required.

Ornament Decorating at The Inn

$45 per person plus tax. Includes supplies. Overnight Guests only.

Create a unique keepsake holiday ornament in this special workshop led by local Asheville artist Andrea Kulish. Participants learn to decorate eggs in the traditional Ukrainian Pysanky style to make beautiful pieces of art. Andrea’s handcrafted ornaments will be displayed during instruction and all supplies will be provided.
