Biltmore® Grown celebrates our agricultural legacy
Posted 7/22/26
Biltmore® Grown products celebrate our agricultural legacy and are the natural result of George Vanderbilt’s vision for a self-sustaining estate.
From the inception of Biltmore in the late 1800s, Mr. Vanderbilt intended to provide produce, meat, and other products for his family and guests at Biltmore. His commitment to quality and vision inspired the establishment of Biltmore® Grown.
Proud of our agricultural heritage, we are dedicated to offering the highest-quality premium, pasture-based products. By purchasing our products, you not only become part of Biltmore’s rich history, you also support the preservation of this working estate.
Meats (beef, pork, lamb, jerky, charcuterie)
Across the estate’s 8,000 acres, livestock are born and raised on the same land, forming the heart of a true estate-raised program that has been part of Biltmore’s agricultural identity since the late 1800s. Guided by a commitment to doing things the right way, animals are humanely raised on open, lush pastures, nourished with high-quality grains, and never given added growth hormones or unnecessary antibiotics.
This thoughtful approach is paired with a deep respect for environmental stewardship, ensuring the land is cared for as carefully as the animals themselves. The results embody both tradition and integrity, a product of sustainable practices, responsible farming, and a continued dedication to preserving the estate for generations to come.

Honey
With Biltmore® Grown, caring for the land also means supporting the life that sustains it. Across the estate, a network of pollinator habitats, including a certified Monarch Waystation, provides a thriving environment for bees, butterflies, and other essential species. These spaces are carefully maintained to support both biodiversity and the health of the estate’s crops.
More than 100 honeybee hives are managed across the property by a multi-generational Biltmore apiarist, bringing years of experience and continuity to the craft. Biltmore® Grown Honey reflects the landscape, as bees gather pollen from dogwood, sourwood, clover, and other flowering trees across the estate. The result is a rich, golden honey with layered floral notes and a smooth, lingering sweetness that captures the variety of blooms that nurtured it.

Sunflower Oil
Grown in the fields along the Antler Hill Village walking trails, Biltmore® Grown Sunflower Oil begins its journey on the estate, where each sunflower is carefully harvested at peak oil maturity. Without ever leaving North Carolina, the seeds are cold pressed using traditional granite millstones rather than harsh chemicals, preserving the oil’s natural richness and its warm, nutty character. The result is an unrefined artisan oil that brings both versatility and wellness to the table.
Whether drizzled over fresh greens, used for sautéing and searing, or baked into your favorite recipes, it performs like a trusted staple with an elevated touch, offering a higher smoke point and a wealth of heart-healthy monounsaturated fats. Rooted in craftsmanship and grown close to home, this oil is more than an ingredient; it reflects our commitment to care from field to bottle.

Stone-Ground Corn Meal and Grits
Grown across the estate using no-till regenerative agriculture methods, each acre of corn is managed with clear purpose. Early in the season, while the crop is still green and at peak nutritional value, a portion is harvested as silage to support the livestock raised on the estate.
This first harvest plays an essential role in maintaining a consistent, high-quality feed source and reflects the practical, full-use approach that defines Biltmore Grown agriculture. As the remaining corn matures and dries in the field, it is harvested for grain products including Biltmore® Grown Stone Ground Self-Rising White Corn Meal and Biltmore® Grown Stone Ground White Corn Grits, processed at a traditional local mill so you can discover its distinctive rich flavor and hearty texture for everyday cooking.

Goat milk soap
One of the most popular guest experiences at the Farmyard in Antler Hill Village is our goat milking demonstration. We explored ways to use the milk, and with help from a team member who knew how to make soap, we created our first small batch of goat milk soap. Today, it is still handmade right here in the Farmyard where guests can watch the entire process and even take home a bar.

Leather goods
The leather for items including wallets, coasters, luggage tags, commuter bags, backpacks, and weekender bags began on the pastures of Biltmore, where Angus cattle are raised with care and respect. Their hides are thoughtfully transformed—tanned at the historic Hermann Oak Tannery in Missouri, then crafted into timeless leather goods by Moore & Giles in Virginia. Each piece comes full circle, returning home to Biltmore—where heritage, craftsmanship, and sustainability meet. Natural variations in tone make each piece truly one of a kind.
