Kids’ Fishing

Kids can enjoy fishing in the lagoon area with a fishing instructor using conventional spinning or bait casting rods and tackle. All fishing equipment is provided.

This activity is unavailable during winter. To participate in this activity, guest must have a daytime ticket, a Biltmore Annual Pass, or a stay at one of the estate’s splendid overnight properties.

Two-Hour Intro to Fly-Fishing

Learn the skill of casting a fly-rod in this dry casting lesson.  Dry casting means practicing casting on an open field.  You’ll have the opportunity to shore fish at the Lagoon towards the end of the lesson.  Fly-Fishing instruction includes the basic philosophy behind the sport, basic equipment, essentials of casting, and flies and basic knots. Instruction takes place at the Lagoon.

To participate in this activity, guest must have a daytime ticket, a Biltmore Annual Pass, or a stay at one of the estate’s splendid overnight properties. Minimum age is 12 years. This activity is unavailable during winter.

Half-Day Fly-Fishing Lesson

Learn the basics of fly-fishing and casting, including equipment, fly presentation, landing the fish, fly selection, and knots from our expert guides, and then practice your new skills from a drift boat in the Lagoon.

Fly-Fishing Wade Trip

Enjoy a guided wade trip on local rivers stocked with trout. Experience an exciting guided full-day wade trip fishing in one of our local streams or rivers. Lunch from an estate restaurant is included. Fly-fishing experience is required for half-and full-day adventures. All equipment provided.
