Biltmore’s Christmas wine labels tell a story, and we invite you to share these handcrafted seasonal-release wines with family and friends as you sip, savor, and celebrate our finest holiday flavors.
“In years past, we’ve crowdsourced the themes of our Christmas labels with help from fans on Facebook and Instagram,” said Abigail Simons, Wine Marketing Manager. “This year, we leaned into the responses from a focus group of more than 500 participants. Our Christmas wine labels weren’t even the topic of discussion, but as we shared details about the first Biltmore Christmas in 1895, the idea for telling the story of the towering Banquet Hall tree across all three labels was born.”
The Christmas wine labels feature a series of three whimsical designs that tell a charming tale of selecting the perfect Christmas tree, bringing it into Biltmore House, and decorating it in the Banquet Hall.
A sparkling beginning
The Christmas Collection story begins on the label of our Biltmore Estate Winery™ Christmas Sparkling Wine. Illustrated in a simple style that evokes a crisp winter day on the estate, you’ll find a group selecting the perfect Fraser fir to grace the Banquet Hall of Biltmore House.
“Bursting with fine, tiny bubbles, our Christmas Sparkling Wine is handcrafted in the traditional méthode champenoise to enliven all your seasonal celebrations,” said Abigail. “Whether you’re raising a flute to toast the season or splashing it over ice in a coupe garnished with a juicy orange slice and a sweetly scented cinnamon stick, this versatile sparkling wine makes any occasion more memorable.”
According to Abigail, sparkling wines aren’t just for toasting special occasions. They’re surprisingly versatile when you pair them with food, and she suggests enjoying our Christmas Sparkling Wine with bread pudding or a creamy brie.
The story continues
The second label in the series features the midpoint of our Christmas Collection story as the big tree travels toward Biltmore House in the bed of a horse-drawn wagon.
Medium-bodied with a hint of sweetness, Biltmore Estate Winery™ Christmas Red Wine is a seasonal delight handcrafted here at Biltmore Estate Winery with grapes from our west coast vineyard partners. Barrel aging deepens the wine’s rich aromas of berries, cacao, and tobacco while enhancing its flavor profile of berry jam, oak, and spices.
“At holiday gatherings, pair our Christmas Red Wine with everything from candied ham, turkey with cranberry sauce, pork loin with fruit reduction, dark berry sorbet, and a variety of cheeses,” suggests Abigail.
The grand finale
Thanks to our west coast partner vineyards, we were able to select an especially fragrant mix of grapes to handcraft our Biltmore Estate Winery™ Christmas White Wine. This light-bodied seasonal favorite will delight you with white peach, clove, and apple aromas that blossom into tropical flavors of kiwi, mango, and bright citrus.
On the label, you’ll find the finale of our Christmas Collection story with the decoration of the big tree in the Biltmore House Banquet Hall.
“For all your holiday happenings, sip Christmas White Wine with George Vanderbilt’s favorite roast turkey and other traditional favorites like glazed pork, fruit platters, and pies,” Abigail says, “or wow your guests with a dish such as duck à l’orange.”
